Nog altijd verbaas ik me erover, hoeveel en hoe snel een hond, zelfs op latere leeftijd leert. Katja weet zooooo veel! Het is genieten te zien en ontdekken, hoe de hersentjes van een hond ( ongetwijfeld gebeurt dat ook met andere dieren) zich steeds verder ontwikkelen.Enige weken geleden hebben Wim en ik voor Wim 2 lange broeken gekocht. Die waren te lang, dus korter maken. Staat Wim eerst met de ene broek, later met de 2e broek in de kamer; ik met de speldendoos zittend op de grond, om de juiste lengte af te spelden. En wie staat naast mij te kijken? Juist! Katja. Heel nieuwsgierig naar wat ik zit te doen. Het onthardingszout-reservoir ( wat een wóórd ) van de vaatwasser moest gevuld worden. Ik met mijn hoofd in de vaatwasser ( Die werkte toen niet, hoor) met de trechter en het pak onthardingszout bezig en:…. Katja op de eerste rang. heel nieuwsgierig: Wat doe jij daar? Ook heel grappig: ’s avonds om 6 uur krijgt Katja eten. Wij hebben diverse klokken, die om die tijd 6X slaan en een koekoeksklok, die vanzelfsprekend een onderscheidend geluid geeft. Als Katja één bepaalde klok 6X hoort slaan, staat ze al heel gespannen te luisteren en dan……….ja hoor: 6X koekoek: het signaal, dat ze eten krijgt. Enthousiast rent ze rondjes in de kamer en vervolgens naar de keuken in afwachting van haar brokjes. werkelijk zo vermakelijk, maar ook een teken, dat ze heel, heel intelligent is.Als we ergens zijn, waar geen koekoeksklok is, bijvoorbeeld als we op visite zijn, of in een hotel of een vakantiehuisje in een recreatiepark, dan roepen wij 6X “koekoek” met hetzelfde resultaat, als na het gekoekoek van de klok thuis. Zo leuk! Nu iets minder leuks: Vandaag moesten we met Katja naar de dierenarts; van een grote kies linksboven was een stukje afgebroken; hoe dat is gebeurd is een raadsel, maar ik merkte al enige dagen met tandenpoetsen, dat ze het poetsen bij die kies heel vervelend vond. Vorige week vrijdag ( 7 februari 2020) in haar bek gekeken en Wim en ik ontdekten, dat aan de buitenkant een stukje kies los zat en nog in het tandvlees vast zat. Opgebeld naar de dierenartsenpraktijk; vanochtend ( dinsdag 11 februari 2020) Katja nuchter brengen. Om half 12 vanochtend belde de assistente, dat Katja gehaald kon worden.. Toen de dierenarts het losse stukje verwijderde, zag hij, dat eronder een gat was tot in het wortelkanaal, Ach Katja stakkertje: De kies moest uit haar kaak GEBOORD worden. Voor 4 dagen pijnstillers ( metacam-pillen) meegekregen. Gelukkig, dat het gebeurd is; ze ligt nu nog zielig in haar bed, maar de dierenartsassistente verzekerde ons, dat Katja snel weer “de oude” zal zijn. Daar vertrouwen we op.
