Blijft altijd een fijne hond, gehoorzaamd heel goed, kent alles basisopdrachten en oefent ze goed.
Is een fantastische kameraad en speelvriend voor onze kleinkinderen.
Kan met iedereen om, ook met andere honden, geen enkel probleem. Geniet elke dag van onze wandelingen. Wij staan ’s morgens rond 04:45 uur op, ik ontbijt dan en rond 05:15 uur tegen dat het licht begint te worden vertrekken wij voor onze deugddoende wandeling van ongeveer 2 uur à 2 ½ uur, waarbij we proberen hazen, reeën, marters, buizerds, spechten, enz. … te observeren. Hierbij loopt G.P. altijd los, zonder probleem. Als ik hem een plek aanwijs gaat hij daar rustig zitten/liggen wachten tot ik alles goed heb kunnen bekijken met mijn verrekijker, soms heb ik die zelfs niet nodig omdat de dieren zo kort bij staan. ’s Avonds of in de late namiddag maken we dan nog eens een andere tocht en onderweg kan G.P naar hartenlust rondlopen, snuffelen, kakje doen, plasje maken of zijn geurvlaggen uitzetten, zelf geurvlaggen lezen en bestuderen. Yep IDD een hond leest de poep of een geurvlag van andere dieren zoals wij een verhaal of boek zouden lezen… En soms als hij geconcentreerd aan’t ‘lezen’ is en ik roep of fluit hem dan kijkt hij eens omhoog, steekt zijn neus terug diep in die graspol en kijkt me dan aan met een blik: ‘Die laatste zin moet ik nog lezen’ 😊.
Schnauzers zijn geen echte slaafse honden of reageren niet zoals een robot, maar komen doet hij wel, een splitseconde later dan wel. Ik vind het wel charmant dat hij niet een slaafse hond is en zijn eigenheid heeft, maakt het interessant toch?
Hij heeft echt wel een grote ‘Will to please’! En hij is er overal graag bij, begroet iedereen open en eerlijk, speelt met elke hond. Katten, marters, vossen en eekhoorns…dat is iets anders, dan komt zijn jachtdrift boven… Maar als ik dan roep of fluit komt hij wel (met enige tegenzin) terug. Er zijn in de streek wolven en everzwijnen gesignaleerd, die zouden we ook wel eens graag tegenkomen en observeren, best ’s morgens vroeg bij het gloren van de dag of ’s avonds bij het vallen van de avond… Maar tot nog toe niks gezien. ’s Avonds ligt hij graag bij op de bank, liefst bij het vrouwtje, hij is heel gedisciplineerd en rustig binnen en buiten uitgelaten en blij. Kortom wij zijn nog altijd heel blij met de aanwinst van onze Schnauzer. Is heel gezond, energiek, speels, vriendelijk, aanhankelijk en ietwat zotjes en soms een tikkeltje eigenzinnig wat het allemaal interessant maakt en charmant. Iedereen die hem kent, of zei die hier aan huis komen zijn ook helemaal weg van hem.  Onderweg kom ik redelijk veel baasjes tegen met Mini-Schnauzers. Dan heb je direct contact en wordt er over de Schnauzers en hun karakter gepraat. Hier in België zie je echt weinig Middenslag types, meestal de Mini en hier en daar een enkele Riesen Schnauzer.
Maar klein, middel of groot…ze hebben doorgaans allemaal een fijn karakter.
Eind augustus hebben wij onze clubmatch op de hondenschool. Heb al een aantal trainingen moeten missen door heup- en rugproblemen. Enfin, we zien wel wat het wordt, we spelen trouwens voor het plezier en niet voor een gouden koe hé. De standaard opdrachten zullen geen enkel probleem zijn, de moeilijkere opdrachten – welke je thuis niet kan oefenen – kunnen dan weer problemen geven. Och het is wat het is, volgende keer dan maar beter zekers… 😊.
